Intel (intc) on August 2 officially launched the first 10nm-based 10th generation Ice Lake processors, which will be preferred for notebook computers and are expected to begin shipping to computer manufacturers in the near future.


The 10th generation of Intel processors will be divided into U and Y series, and 11 models will be launched in a row. According to the difference of power consumption, Core i3 series of 9W / 12W, Core i5 series of 15W / 25W and Core i7 series of 25W / 28W.


To meet the latest transmission specifications, the 10th generation of Ice Lake supports wi-fi 6 (802.11ax) and Thunderbolt 3 protocols, as well as 3200MHz ram.Intel officials also pointed out that the performance of Ice Lake will be significantly improved due to the 10nm manufacturing process, with multiple cores averaging up to 3.6ghz and single cores up to 4.1ghz.

In addition to computing units, dozens of processors are equipped with Intel's latest Iris 64 EU core display, which allows floating point operations of up to 1TF per second, providing decent display performance on laptop platforms.

Intel to the tenth generation Ice Lake processor is composed of the U and Y series, a total of 11 kinds of different models, including Y series is designed specifically for the ultra thin and light notebook computer, and U series is provided to the level of efficiency notebook computer, the former consists of two dual core, four core part three, the latter is composed of four nuclear eight threads (in addition to the minimum order of i3).


The best flagship processor of U series is Core i7-1068g7, basic time pulse micro 3.6ghz (Turbo Boost up to 4.1ghz), 8MB cache memory, power consumption 28W TDP, is the only mobile processor in the 10th generation that can't adjust TDP.While others, including Core i7 1065G7, Core i5-1035g7, Core i5-1035g4 and Core i5-1035g1, are respectively 15W and 25W TDP. Except Core i7 1065G7, the performance difference of the latter three models is not very big, the only difference is the difference in processor base time.


Notably, the U remains the Core i3-1005g1, the only dual-core processor in the series that doesn't support Turbo Boost and has only 4MB of cache memory.

The Y series is a fully adjustable TDP with 9W / 12W, the highest level Core i7-1060g7 has 3.4ghz basic time pulse (Turbo Boost up to 3.8ghz) and 8MB cache memory, followed by two similar Core i5 1030G7 and Core i5 1030G4.


Core i3-1000g4 and Core i3-1000g1 have the same processor specifications. The only difference is that the better Core i3-1000g4 has a new Intel Iris Plus built-in display, which is slightly better than the Intel UHD display of Core i3-1000g1.


The model of the 10th generation processor is marked differently from the previous, with "generation" + "architecture" + "processor level" as the naming rule.
